Nick Hanson
Most image programs I've used in the past have done something to allow windows explorer to display thumbnails for image types I register with the program but explorer doesn't normally support. I don't have any other image manipulation programs installed at the moment but Quicktime for example makes it so that the tumbnails work in explorer for TGA files if I associate it with them. I would MUCH PREFER to associate TGA files with Paint.Net but it doesn't seem to do this (explorer thumbnail mode just shows a pixelated apparently blown up version of the program icon.) Though you probably know what I'm speaking of just to be clear the thumbnails I'm refering to are those that you see if you open an exporer window and then go to "View" menu and select "Thumbnails". Unless it's very difficult it would be nice if Paint.Net would allow me to preview TGA files in this manner if I select to associate it with them. Thank you. Rick Brewster
Yeah, I know what you're talking about here. Windows has a built-in thumbnail provider for all the basic image types like BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, and we install a DLL that provides them for PDN, but there is nothing for TGA images. We were going to have this for v2.5 but just didn't have time for it. I don't know if this will make it for v2.6, but it's still something we want to do. Nick Hanson
*bump* Perhaps I missed a more recent post stating this feature was no longer going to be implemented (it is a rather old thread) but as of this thread the indications seemed to be the feature was "coming soon". Not only did it not make it into v2.6 (as expected) it didn't make it into the 2.7 series either nor has it made it to v3.0. For whatever reason a fair number of games I play only output screenshots (using the in-game mechanic) in TGA and it would be really nice to be able to see what the heck these things were without having to open each one. Rick Brewster
Please read the rules. Do not "bump" extremely old threads. It's very rude. To answer your question, I don't have any ETA for implementing TGA thumbnails. It's just not a priority at this point.
