Search for a tutorial by the name of 'cutting out images the easy way' and that will describe in the easiest possible terms how to do such a task. You could also use an alpha mask which utilises the same method as the aforementioned tutorial but produces a cleaner and more professional extraction. Feel free to search for that too, it will be under the title of 'alpha masking'.
