Few sugestions

Recommended Posts

1) Scrolling when using the mousewheel is the expected behavior that almost all Windows applications implement. 3D CAD programs don't really factor in to what I consider as an example of good UI design. They usually have about ten bajillion commands they have to present to the user and there's really no way to get a good, intuitive UI there. So this would make things slightly more intuitive for you while making it much much more difficult for almost every other use of Paint.NET.

2) Yeah, we should, just haven't really taken the time to do this yet.

3) You have to write the plugin in C# or VB.NET. The thing about plugins is that everybody always ask for the ability to add plugins, but then nobody actually writes any plugins. I sure haven't found any on the web.

Sigh... I was just going to suggest zooming with scroll the wheel without the ctrl key as well. It's just a minor irritation for me, coming from AutoCAD, to have to hold down an extra key to do something so simple as zoom. Would you consider an option to change this then?

But that aside, how about panning by holding down the middle button/Scroll wheel and moving the mouse? Like in Adobe Acrobat(but uses all buttons the same), AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, etc. I would think it best not to do it like in Internet explorer or Word though.

In any case, I agree, you have created an amazing tool. Keep it up.

Thanks for replying, I guess you're right in most points, maybe in addition to point one; might be a future feature to give users the ability to change mouse/keyboard shortcuts? Just a sugestion.

Rick is VERY opposed towards any preferences, because of debugging purposes. With no preferences, you have one instance of which to debug. But say you had a list of 6 preferences of 29 and then ctrl and shift keys.

29+29+29 key possibilites

(87*6)-5=517 instances of which to debug

sounds annoying, eh?

It's not really even the debugging purposes in this case. That argument comes about when someone asks for two completely different modes of operation based on a checkbox or registry setting ("can I get feature X to act exactly as it did in version 1.1 by fliping some checkbox?").
