The original image was probably a JPG file. If you can find the same one that's a PNG file, it would come out a lot cleaner as JPG files are compressed and lose some resolution quality in the process. In order to have a clean final image, you have to start with a clean image or you'll spend a lot of time trying to make it look right.

I like cutting out backgrounds as it's great for practice purposes. :D

It's called"tolerance, and yes, that can be the first step :-)

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
