How to crop photos in paint.net I cannot find any tool for that

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to crop a photo in paint.net   Actually I have two photos and need to cut them apart.  I also have photos on my camera which I can put onto my computer but not sure how to get them into paint.net  If anyone can point me in those two items I'd appreciate it!

Welcome!

First off, the Tutorials section of the forum is for sharing tutorials you've written. Questions go in the Discussion & Questions forum. I've moved this there for you, but keep that in mind for next time.

As for your questions:

To crop, first use the :RectangleSelectTool: Rectangle Selection tool to select the area you want to keep, then go to Image > Crop to Selection

To open your images in Paint.NET, find them in Explorer, right-click and select Edit. Or, from within Paint.NET, go to File > Open and find them that way.

As far as I can see, your cropping function is ridiculously dysfunctional compared to the easy-to-use system I previous had. For some reason I'm no longer allowed to use that system. Your directions are too vague. Then, when I move the selection box over the image it only opens once, in the first direction I expand it to. When I try to expand in another direction, the thing shrinks back down to the starting dot. Every time. Doesn't work and poorly designed as it is. What gives please??!!! btw, I'm on a deadline. THUMBS WAY DOWN.
