MercWithMouth
Hey there. I've been using Paint.NET for quite some time but am somewhat new to the forums. Anyway, regarding plug-ins... I recently downloaded a series of files from browsing these forums: dpyplugins5.1.zip BoltBaitPack.zip pyrochild.2010-4-01.zip AlphaMask.zip AlignPlugin.zip Then I ran the "extract" command on them. These were the resultant files: Rainbow Palette.txt AA's_Assistant.dll AlignPlugin.dll AlphaMask.dll BlackandAlpha+.dll Borders N' Shapes.dll Burninate.dll CircleText.dll Color Match.dll ColorBalance.dll Curves+.dll dpyColorBalance.dll Feather.dll Film.dll Flip.dll GaussianBlurPlus.dll Gradient Bars.dll Gradient Blocks.dll Gradient Mapping.dll Jitter.dll Landscape.dll Lomography.dll Metallize.dll MultiThreshold.dll Outline.dll Outline Object.dll Pastel.dll Perspective.dll PhotoAdjustments.dll Pixelate+.dll Polygon.dll pyrochild.effects.REQUIRED.dll Random Effect.dll Random Shape Fill.dll RotateText.dll RotateTextSUI.dll ScriptLab.dll SelectionTools.dll Smudge.dll SpeechBubble.dll SpiralText.dll Splatter.dll Steganography.dll Stitch.dll Trail.dll Transparency.dll Twist.dll WaveText.dll WaveTextSUI.dll My understanding is that all I have to do to "INSTALL" these plug-ins, is to copy and paste them from their current directory, and over to: C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects The reason I'm asking here? Because I spent nearly 25minutes looking through the forums for a verification that this is the proper way to install Paint.NET plug-ins. Anyway, if somebody could confirm this for me, or give me other related information I should know before I try install the plug-ins in this manner, I'd appreciate it greatly. MercWithMouth
That's right. ============================================= Installation Hey, thanks for the help. And I strongly agree. That information SHOULD be stickied. Also, I should mention, I tried clicking the link in your signature: http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=253311#p253311 Unfortunately, that page seems to be defunct. You miiiight want to update it. ^^;;; Thanks again, and I also support the idea of stickying the rudimentary info on installing plugins. MercWithMouth
To be honest, they're pretty prominently displayed already... http://sites.google....oltbait/install Hmm. I don't quite agree with that. Here, let me show you what I mean: aside from the posts in THIS thread (ironically), when I did a search for INSTALL PLUGIN, I didn't come up with too much helpful info. Also, in regards to the thing that said "HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS" on the front page that you enclosed in the red-box outline... I think I know why I overlooked that. Right above that, was the larger title, "PLUGINS -PUBLISHING ONLY". To me, that implied that was a forum for people to go into if they were designing their own plugins and wanted to discuss programming with one another. It didn't seem like the place where I'd go to learn how to install plugins (which ought be far more rudimentary than creating plugins) so I tried looking in more basic sections like GENERAL-FAQ. Ergo, instinctively, I didn't read the secondary-title for that forum, either. And besides... If basic info for "how to install a plugin" doesn't appear from the forum-search, 'install plugin', that ought be considered a shortcoming that should be rectified. MercWithMouth
Respectfully, could you explain what you mean by "here's your problem?" I don't think I understand what you're trying to say. Sarkut
I'm not sure what Piney meant by that. It's interesting to note that if you repeat the search using: +install +plugins the installation thread shows on the first page instead of the third page.
