BadlandsRacer
I'm just looking to figure out how to get my text and objects from another layer to "glow", as shown here. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a329/ ... ter_v2.png That, or blend a picture from another layer into the background layer so it looks like the picture just...melts away into the background at the edges....if you know what I'm saying? I'm trying to make a birthday card for my fiancee, and am pretty new to paint.NET.
APShredder
If you put the text on a new layer, you can use the Glow plugin which should be located under Effects --> Photo --> Glow. Quote BlendModes Plus | Dissolve | Extract Color
Sarkut
BadlandsRacer, The melting away to transparency at the edges can be done by adapting what's described here: Edited April 6, 2010 by Sarkut
BadlandsRacer
If you put the text on a new layer, you can use the Glow plugin which should be located under Effects --> Photo --> Glow. I think you may misunderstand me...this doesn't seem to change my text all that much. I'm kind of looking to get a glowing nimbus that surrounds the text, not makes the actual letters lighter. Is there a plug-in for this?
sokagirl
Have you tried this tutorial ?? viewtopic.php?f=37&t=27195
BadlandsRacer
Okay, I'm trying to use these two tutorials to see what I can come up with....but I MAY require additional assistance, lol. I'm trying to make the mask layer for the fade to transparency, and it's REALLY confusing...cause I want it to fade into the large picture that I'm using as a background. Hopefully I can figure it out.
BadlandsRacer
Well it seems I can use the alpha mask to blur to WHITE around the edges of my picture...but not transparency. So rather than fade into the background, it's surrounded by a nimbus of white...which is still kinda cool...
Sarkut
BadlandsRacer, When you say it fades to white, some possibilities come to mind- Be sure Mix Alpha is checked. Save as PNG, not JPG. Be sure that the white default background has been deleted before starting. If you work on the image you want to have fade-edged on its own layer above the background layer all should be good. Once it looks right and is positioned correctly, it can be merged down onto the background and saved. If none of this helps, maybe you could post some links to screenshots. Just upload them to ImageShack and copy/paste the Direct Links. http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/
BadlandsRacer
Well I never really figured out how to blend it into the background behind it...but that's fine. It came out alright anyway, for the first thing I've ever made with paint.NET. http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/4725 ... orsami.jpg
Sarkut
Cool. Yeah, it looks like maybe the elliptical selection was still in effect at some point when it should have been deselected. Still, a nice result.
