Making a picture with like 3D borders

Hi Evrybody

I m new to Paint.net, I found it after looking to make something like I sow.

Since I don't realy know how to work with Paint.net (I m sure I will learn slowly) please advice me how to do my picture.

the effect on that border is quite easy: a plugin called bevel selection, maby drop shadows too.

you'll need to have each of the squares/rectangles/whatever shape you're using on different layers.

Yes, you will need to install the applicable plugins, but that is a relatively easy process. Click the 'Search' link in the upper-right portion of the page. Enter "bevel" or "drop shadow" as a search term, then select "plugin" as the forum to search under. Review the links displayed for plugin location and responses about the topic. Also, look at the stickies in the uppermost section of the Plugin Forum for helps on how to install plugins.
