  1. EER - Thanks for the PDF listing !! I was wondering if such a creation was something you might consider, as it makes searching for the right information much easier and useful and can be referenced offline. Nice job, thanks for taking on this 'not-so-easy' task.....
  2. Nice job on the new forums. Very professional and informative. Thanks for all the work in continuing to make paint.NET the best, free, graphics editor EVER !!
  3. Oma, Great job on the snowman ! I think this tut does a great job of demonstrating the use and effect of layering - are useful task for noob and veteran alike. I also believe the use of the Magic Wand, Lasso Tool, Gradients, Blurs, and Shadowing effects are very beneficial for anyone trying to learn paint.NET. Despite my low post-count, I have been a paint.NET user for a long time and attribute much of my knowledge and success to learning from the tutorials in this forum. I think a newbie would be well-advised to try tuts such as this and gleen the knowledge from the user base to further one's skills. As usual, great job !
  4. Well done tut that uses several techniques/plugins to create an excellent effect. No problems, except for one issue that I haven't been able to get around. I can't seem to get text in the outer ring of the center portion to follow the curve of the chip (e.g. like the word "POKER" in the tutorial example). No matter how I do it - the text remains linear without the ability to curve. Is there something I can do to within PDN to get the text to curve as shown in the tutorial? Thanks.
  5. Welcome to the Paint.NET community! Please read the forum rules to gain a better understanding of how the forums work, and the best approach to getting the information you desire. Try using the 'Search' feature in the menu bar at the top right of the page (below the Paint.NET logo header). You can search by a variety of options, but using "removing backgrounds" and "cutting images" should yield multiple links to posts and tutorials on this topic. This is one of the most requested topics about Paint.NET and you will find a lot of information and techniques about how to remove backgrounds - without the bandwidth of rehashing the "same old subject" for the millionth time for veterans.
  6. Yes, you will need to install the applicable plugins, but that is a relatively easy process. Click the 'Search' link in the upper-right portion of the page. Enter "bevel" or "drop shadow" as a search term, then select "plugin" as the forum to search under. Review the links displayed for plugin location and responses about the topic. Also, look at the stickies in the uppermost section of the Plugin Forum for helps on how to install plugins.
  7. Go to the very first post in this thread (by Simon Brown) and you will see an obvious box titled, "Attachments". In this box there is a link for the shortcut sheet (a .zip file). Click it, and away you go....
  8. The line color is drawn from the active palette, so if you select the color you desire (red in this case) as your primary color before drawing the line - the line will be drawn as you wish. Just a side comment, but I personally do not believe that PDN is an enhanced version of MS Paint. PDN was coded from the ground up and better utilizes resources that MS Paint. The addition of excellent plug-ins, tutorials, and forum support sets PDN apart from just about any other graphics editing software.....IMHO.
