blardjosh
Okay, here is what happened, a couple weeks ago, Paint.Net kept crashing, and so I thought maybe reinstalling it would solve the problem, and then I uninstalled the previous copy I had, then downloaded the new one, and proceeded onto installation, everything goes fine for a while, then this happens: The error details are: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.IO.IOException: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames(String path, String userPathOriginal, String searchPattern, Boolean includeFiles, Boolean includeDirs, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(String path, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(String path, String searchPattern) at PaintDotNet.SystemLayer.FileSystem..cctor() ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.1433 (REDBITS.050727-1400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- SetupFrontEnd Assembly Version: 3.36.3158.38067 Win32 Version: 3.36.3158.38067 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/WarMachine/AppData/Local/Temp/PdnSetup/SetupFrontEnd.exe ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.1433 (REDBITS.050727-1400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.1433 (REDBITS.050727-1400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.1433 (REDBITS.050727-1400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- PaintDotNet.SystemLayer Assembly Version: 3.36.3158.38062 Win32 Version: 3.36.3158.38062 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/WarMachine/AppData/Local/Temp/PdnSetup/PaintDotNet.SystemLayer.DLL ---------------------------------------- PaintDotNet.Base Assembly Version: 3.36.3158.38062 Win32 Version: 3.36.3158.38062 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/WarMachine/AppData/Local/Temp/PdnSetup/PaintDotNet.Base.DLL ---------------------------------------- PaintDotNet.Resources Assembly Version: 3.36.3158.38063 Win32 Version: 3.36.3158.38063 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/WarMachine/AppData/Local/Temp/PdnSetup/PaintDotNet.Resources.DLL ---------------------------------------- PaintDotNet.Core Assembly Version: 3.36.3158.38063 Win32 Version: 3.36.3158.38063 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/WarMachine/AppData/Local/Temp/PdnSetup/PaintDotNet.Core.DLL ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. SP-Stevo-
Try changing the directory of the place your installing to. e.g. Instead of installing to C:\Program Files\Paint.NET, change the name maybe or delete the folder and all of it's contents at C:\Program Files\Paint.NET, hope this helps! -Stevo
blardjosh
I'm fairly sure I tried that, but I will try it again when I get back home, but can anyone else supply some more help? And by the way I think 3.36 is the newest, but if it isn't please tell me.
blardjosh
Okay, I found the solution! If anyone else has the same problem, I will post the solution I came up with for it may be their problem too. Since it said the directory was corrupt, I tried all the things I could think of for the directory, but what made it work was, I went to my C:\Users\(USERNAME)\Appdata\Local, and after I went there, I tried deleting the Paint.Net folder that was there, it said I couldn't delete the directory because it was corrupt, so I just renamed it, and now it works like a charm I hope someone will find this solution helpful in the future.
