Annihilannic
Firstly, Paint.NET is awesome, finally I can throw away all those other horrible bloated photo editors, mentioning no names. Alright, shmoozing over; I have one slightly irritating problem though. When opening multiple files (and occasionally individual ones), either via drag and drop or File | Open | (ctrl-select), the software pauses sometimes for 5-10 seconds as though some kind of background garbage collection is going on or something. Is this expected behaviour? I would guesstimate that it happens for 1 in every 3 file opens, and is more apparently when opening many. I use PDN mainly for resizing images, so often do batches of them, so the problem is readily apparent. I'm running v3.36 under Windows XP Home SP3, and would be happy to try any tests or obtain any debugging info if required (given instructions). I notice a similar report here, although the symptoms differ: http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=22476&view=previous. It mentions another thread relating to drag-n-drop, but I couldn't find the original thread.
Rick Brewster
My psychic powers tell me you're using a single core CPU without HyperThreading. This is fixed for the next release, v3.5. http://blog.getpaint.net/2008/09/11/pai ... humbnails/ Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
