zoom click locks out main tool bar

Hello,
Importing a picture and zooming into it using z and +/- keys locks out the tool bar on the main window (where the paint tools and other control buttons are located)
Clicking on 'pencil' or 'paint brush' controls does not bring the specific tool bar feature.
My PC runs with Win11

BDP, thanks for reply , my Netscape (version downloaded from Microsoft store) O can access Zoom by   Z then +/- to increase or decrease. I haven't tried Ctrl +/- , but that is not my problem:
my problem is when I click Z the tool bar aka : the buttons to control paint brush size, disappears completely from the program window frame and I can't get it back.

I'm confused, what does Netscape have to do with anything?

When the Zoom tool is active you can't use the other tools. Only one tool can be active at a time.

If you want to zoom while using a tool, you can use Ctrl + Mouse Wheel, or Ctrl +/-

But that is your problem 😉

Switching to the Zoom tool is a very slow way to zoom in/out.

As others have said, use Ctrl + +/-

These shortcuts, plus Ctrl + 0 are available in most apps and are shown in the paint.net View menu:

Also, check the paint.net Documentation for Zoom in/out here: https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/KeyboardMouseCommands.html#2

And note that Ctrl + Mouse Wheel  which does zoom in/out in paint.net and in most other apps is also mentioned there.

You can also pan/scroll by holding down space and then click+drag the canvas. This works with all tools. (except when you are typing text with the Text tool, since it takes space and puts it in the text instead)
