The 'crop to selection' keyboard shortcut (CTRL+Shift+X) is not working.

The 'crop to selection' option isn't broken when I select it from the menu, it's specifically the keyboard shortcut that isn't working.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but the issue persisted.

Does anyone know how to fix this error?

Someone in another thread said it was some AMD thing that was hijacking the shortcut.

This is not a Paint.NET bug, you will need to investigate elsewhere.

Also, WHY did you post this in "Preview Center"? That makes no sense. You should have posted this in Troubleshooting.

It sounds as though something else has hijacked the key combination.

Does any of the advice here help. It's advisable to read the whole thread first before trying anything.

Also, make sure the physical keys really do work: https://keyboardchecker.com/

The keyboard checker shows the issue seems to be that the X isn't working while pressing CTRL+Shift, while other

I'll search based off of that, I didn't know about the keyboard checking tool.

Thank you very much.

I apologize for posting in the wrong section, I thought it was the correct area.

This did help me determine what was causing the problem was though.

The issue was in the AMD Software's settings. Disabling all use of hotkeys resolved the issue.

Thank you, and my apologies again, I'll look more closely into this site's rules and structure. I haven't joined until this problem occurred.

Ditto - Sadly there is a defect in AMD Adrenaline in latest version, regression, great.

Yeah it's been like this for awhile. I've been getting a steady trickle of people reporting that Ctrl+Shift+X is "broken". It's always a system with an AMD GPU :(

I also had this problem on my new PC, which has an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I had installed AMD Adrenalin because that's what the AMD website said to do for chipset drivers and the iGPU, but I have an Nvidia dedicated GPU. I found this Reddit thread that hits on the solution:

https://old.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/18i4ewn/do_i_need_adrenalin_for_7800x3d_with_nvidia_gpu/

TL;DR, you need the latest AMD chipset drivers, but you don't need Adrenalin for that and can get just the chipset and storage drivers this way:

  1. Visit AMD.com driver page: AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition | Graphics Technologies | AMD - https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/software
  2. Click “Download Now”
  3. Select “Chipsets” → Select “AMD Socket AM5” → Select motherboard model “X670E, X670, B650E, or B650”
  4. Click “Submit”
  5. Select either Windows® 11 or Windows® 10 OS version depending on your systems operating system
  6. Click “Download”

Doing this got me actually newer chipset drivers than adrenalin had installed and once I removed Adrenalin, even before a restart, Ctrl+Shift+X worked again.
