Select a Near-Coloured Area with Magic Wand, then create a 3 Pixel Border within that Selection - Is it Possible

I have read a thread on here where a guy created a black mask of an area in a different layer, then blured it multiple times, then merged the layers which created a border around the image.

The trouble I have is I want to create a 3 pixel border WITHIN a selection (no blurry pixels).

I have used magic wand to select an irregular, but continuously joined area of near-colour with no holes in it. I need to create a 3 pixel border WITHIN that selection, leaving the other pixels within that selection as-is.

Is this possible?
