Cathode Ray Kobold
I recently downloaded a bunch of images for reference purposes. Immediately after, paint.net started crashing when I clicked "open file." Turns out the crash was due to a file I hadn't noticed, named "stock-photo-wilderness-archeology-stone-construction-human-impact-tularosa-mogollon-culture-cliff-dwellings-gila-new-mexico-new-mexico-national-monument-woman-contemplating-ancient-native-shelter-6416b56e-2e0b-4031-a6a4-7e212fa066ed.jpg," a filename windows has no trouble with but apparently paint.net does. It's a simple fix if you notice why it's happening, but for a good two days I couldn't open any files through the in-app browser because it was stuck "remembering" I had last left the browser off in that folder. Rick Brewster
Paint.NET shouldn't crash when this happens -- you may have a shell extension that's actually causing the crash. In any case, Paint.NET supports "long path" mode, which may alleviate this for you. You have to enable a system-wide registry setting first however, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/maximum-file-path-limitation?tabs=cmd#enable-long-paths-in-windows-10-version-1607-and-later Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
