Crash caused by viewing fonts

There is a free program available somewhere called 'Font Validator'. It is a bit tricky to run, but could help you determining if a font or fonts are corrupt in the Fonts folder

Or alternatively, open the Fonts folder, select Details, and check to see if any font files have zero bytes

No font files have zero bytes. Is there a way to check the fonts using Windows?
