Adding a Gradient to text.

Recommended Posts

Basically,  I want to be able to add a gradient to some text without having the edges become rough. Is there a way to make the gradient apply to half transparent pixels or to have it use the pixels current transparency on that layer as a base?

Not really.

If you want to use a different text plugin to make the text, then apply the gradient later, that's easy too.

Here's what you want to do:

1. Make your text black on a transparent background--use your favorite text plugin if you want.

2. Select All, Copy.

3. Draw a gradient over your text.

4. Edit > Object > Paste Alpha

Worked perfectly, it was just in the Effects tab instead of the Edit tab so it took a bit of searching, thanks!

Us plugin authors can only add stuff to the Adjustments menu or the Effects menu.
