PaxonJollock
Steps to reproduce: 1. Create an image 2. Selection tool, select an area 3. Switch to another app -- PDN is completely in the background and should be idle., instead it maxes out the CPU
Rick Brewster
There's no good way for Paint.NET to detect that it's occluded (hidden) by another window that's on top of it. (I've tried!) If you minimize Paint.NET then it will disable all animations and CPU usage will settle down to 0% very quickly. In Settings, enabling hardware acceleration will also reduce the CPU usage in the situation you describe. It's usually enabled by default, but for some systems -- especially with certain Intel GPUs -- it is disabled by default. Rendering the selection outline is almost free with hardware, but often very expensive using software, especially on lower-end CPUs.
