Love your sig as well. Reminds me of the Emperor in Star Wars.

Thanks guys, that was most helpful.

Here is the result. I decided on a nebula as I have not done one before and this is my first attempt. The starry background is the same as the last image, just used properly this time.
It took 11 layers of various colours and blending modes in all.
Its not very good though.

What is the difference between merging layers down and flattening the image? Surely as you are combining all the layers together in both processes the image should come out the same. But it doesn`t.If you flatten you get one image, but if you merge it is completely different.
I can`t understand why this should be. :?

That`s exactly what I was thinking. Instead of planets I was thinking of doing a picture of a nebula and making it as realistic as possible. I`ve done the clouds and planets but never one of these.

I was just trying to figure out what I could use for my avatar and then I thought why not use some of my fave pictures? So this is what I did using Ash`s S3D cube tut.
Turned out OK but I think the PDN Gold one is a bit out of place. I need to create another good spacescape to finish it off properly.
I`ve been trying to find a use for that starry background and now I found one.

I like the Matrix Reloaded one. Really nice.

Yes I was chuffed with them as well. They match the colours of the planets nearby. That was my third, and my favourite, spacescape.
Glad you like it as well.

Sorted it. What a silly billy! I have No Script installed in FF and that was stopping the smilies. I allowed forumer.com and they all work now. Its the first time I have seen the font colour chart on the right as well.
:AntiAliasingOn: :AntiAliasingOff: :AlphaChannel: :AllColorChannels:
Thanks for trying to help out anyway.

The browser I am using is Firefox 3.01 .
As far as just writing in the code, I have no idea what ones to write in for each different smiley. I only been using a computer for just over a year now so I am not that hot on smiley codes.
Writing in the codes that appear on the error page does not work either.
I`ll have a go with IE7 and see what happens but I would prefer to use FF.

I hope this is the right place for this question. It`s just that when I try to use the smilies on the left hand side when I am posting I always get this -
Not Found
The requested URL /:wink: was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at paintdotnet.forumer.com Port 80
Why is this? I can include smilies from off site by pasting in the URL, but there are ones specific to PDN on these forums which I cannot use.

It does need some work on it . This was me just getting to know the program. I just thought I would post it to compare with the other one. I`ll fix it sometime but at the moment I am more interested in creating new images.
Here is one I made this evening -
I gave the text layer a slightly different water reflection + drop shadow to set it apart from the main image.I was not too sure if it looked right but in the end I left it as it is.
-
There is already a tutorial for this here by Expiration -
I just adapted it to suit the photo and played around with the reflections until I was happy.

The marble was from Drakaan`s tut on PDN Fanatics Forum. I have changed a few things though to try to get it as realistic as possible. Just wish I could remember which ones! I`ll have to do another one to jog my useless memory.
Thanks for the tip about the edges oma. I`ll sort it out and post the result.

Yes I really should do something about that. It kind of spoils the whole thing.
