This is a very good tutorial! I made a very nice filmstrip for my website to display some recent pics ^^

Subjects says it all realy. I am fairly new at programming, but have made some good progress (Made a paint program - not as good as PDN tho , and a web browser) But I was wondering, can a plugin be created in VB? If so, how do I go about doing this - and If it requires annother programming language (e.g C++, C# e.t.c) can someone give me a quick run through? Thanks in advance!

Yes, i'll be sure do do that  I've seen plenty of posts locked because of that!
I don't however, think that there is a point in making a tut for this, becuase it's just an alteration of BarkBark00's chrome effect, so I don't think there is a need.
So...
Overall, the best solution for a numberplate is BarkBark00's chrome effect, and putting a border arround the text, then motion blurring ( :MotionBlur: ) some added noise ( :AddNoise: ) on a new layer ( :AddNewLayer: ) and then cutting out the parts you dont want. Simple realy - If you want to know how ot make a number plate - then this is it

Thanks! This is a great effect - I imagine that you could do this on other objects - like, I don't know, a background?
I'll try that I think
edit - using the same effect (but with a square filled completely grey) If you follow the same steps untill the end, you will get a grey box in hte middle with crome border, magic wand ( ) the grey inside, and it leaves you with a chrome effect border - which could be used to put arround a edited photo to look like a photoframe.

I have found a solution - well, it may not be what your after ...
#1 Fill your background
#2 Make a new layer ( :AddNewLayer: ) Name it Verticle
#3 Make annother new layer ( :AddNewLayer: ) Name it Horizontal
#4 Make your main colour whatever colour you want the spacing (lines) inbetween the dots to be and completely transparent as secondary
#5 Do a fill ( :FillSelection: ) with the 'Light Verticle' on the layer Verticle
#6 Do a fill ( :FillSelection: ) with the 'Light Horizontal' on the Horizontal layer
Done!
Extra - you can blur ( :GaussianBlur: )the squares to make it look like your image

This is the best effect for PDN that i have seen - honest!
Heres my attempt - all I did extra was make a new back layer, gradient ( :LinearGradient: ) added noise ( :AddNoise: ) at 75, 0. Then motion blured ( :MotionBlur: ) at 0, 200. Then i used the same chrome effect curves as BarkBark00, and added a water reflection.

Right - i've tried Barkbark00's chrom effect, and it's great! I just need to think of a way to make a numberplate background and then i can write a small tut on how to conjer up this work of art (If i get Barkbark00's permision to relate to his tut of course!)

Hi - I've search the PDN forums, and haven't been able to find any tutorials consering a number plate. What I want realy, is if someone could make a tut showing how to make a number plate on a car (but... One with the 3D parts on it)
Like this image here ->
but in the style of a numberplate - if you need me to clarify this, just tell me

I made this nice sig in pdn -
I think it looks nice - all i did was multiple layers ( :AddNewLayer: ) water reflection ( :OilPainting: ) and antialias ( :AntiAliasingOff: :AntiAliasingOn:)

Hi - this is nothing to do with shape 3d, but barkbark, how did you make your avatar?

I tired this, but did a slightly different effect. Then i added glass text to it with a water reflection. Looks nice

Looks great, keep up the hard work!
