  1. So more experienced 8) guys, now that I can make snow and rain, I have a question: Can I put other layers on this and still have it snowing? My daughter wants to use this for her siggy (I don't know why :?: ) but of course wants me to put some Christmas images on the top. Is this possible?

  2. It took awhile to get the effect I like but I FINALLY GOT SNOW!! Sorry for shouting, but being new at this I am thrilled!! Plus with my problems with the 3-D plugin I was gettin discouraged. So here's the photo:

As your fellow noob at paint.net I say: bravo! clapping hands (...backstage noise) (I am still struggling to get a decent snow effect but "slow and steady wins the race" and "Rome wasn't built in a day" )

Thank You ( much bowing). I followed the tut, topezia and David's advice:

    Topezia:

It was not a panelling effect, I followed the tutorial in the first part, then as far as what I wanted to try was to reach a "snow like" effect I added the following effects:

1 - stars: probability 9054 intensity 89865 saturation 0 (primary color: white ,secondary: black)

2 - symmetric nearest blur: with radius set at 1

    3 - motion blur: angle - 76,61 distance 2

    David:

You'll want to skip the motion blur step. Instead, hit Ctrl+Shift+Z and zoom in quite a bit, until the noise is moderately large.

Also, skip the Curves step. Instead, go into Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast and make the noise white.

The last step, from David, is crucial. You really got to play with it. Oh, I almost forgot, I also played with topezia's star recomendation.

If I have learned anything with paint.net and people's tutorials its after you follow their directions then experiment, experiment--you will really learn what the program is capable of that way. Oh and ask questions, (took me awhile to be brave enough and I still post wrong sometimes) there is always someone else new out there who is wondering the same thing.

  3. I guess I should have made that step a little more simple for beginners.

When you have those three layers you should go to the very bottom layer. Click control A to select the whole layer. Then control C to copy the layer. Then click control + Alt + V to make the layer and image itself. Save the image as a GIF. Do the same thing with the other two layers.

Actually, for this newbie this was a DUH! moment  . If you just take a second and really look at the screen shots and/or the paint.net screen you can figure out most of this!!

  4. If you look under the download link in this thread, you'll see - ohmaigawsh - another download link! One that's not from MediaFire!

Yeah, thanks Pyro :| . But I didn't use the mediafire link because it says its a dead link!! I did use the other one 8) .

Contrary to what some may think, I may be fairly new to paint.net but not to computers  . Plus I wouldn't have asked for help BUT this is the only plug-in that hasn't worked for me. And that is beyond frustrating  . Thank you to everyone who has been trying to puzzle this out :D !!

  6. This plugin haven`t worcked with me at any time. The program freezes. I must youse ctrl+alt+delet and shut i down. I have re-innstalled it!

    Any tips?? Please!?

    Now see   ???

I totally uninstalled paint.net, ran diagnostics and clean up utilities. Then did a clean install, re-downloaded shape 3-D from the link in this thread. unzipped and placed in my effects folder 8) . This time still no screen, made the image into a ball, and froze the computer like always  . I even had another geek who does computer builds for a living check out my system and nada. I haven't had a problem with any other plug-in. I know this is weird, but also frustrating  !!

I moved away from this for a bit and played with the animated rain tut to make sure I wasn't crazy, no problems with any other plug-in the last couple of days.

  7. The effect with paneling that Topezia did:

    1. can it be done in color?

    2. can it be applied to one area?

Thanks! Gotta love us newbies  !!

I'm not a newby, but I don't know what Topezia did as well. :P

May be I have no idea of what I did either!

then i set the layers blending mode to additive and followed the rest of the tutorial

hope I was helpful, Zar Nicholas,

Do not crucify me please

Actually that is gonna help--I'm learning and that looked cool. I'm gonna fool around and see what I get. If its good--I'll post it!
