  1. Maybe there is another layer on top of the one you are writing on?
  2. Won't work on PdN. The keyboard shortcuts apply to other things. That's weird. It works for me.
  3. There is no 'trace tool' in paint.net. So you either do it this way viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4841 and then just put it on your new background. Or you use the eraser tool and erase everything you don't need in the picture and then just add your new background (import from file, then move that layer down under the other one). I hope this makes sense. You could use the lasso but it's easy to mess up that way.
  4. So everything is ok? I can use it and noone will yell at me for using the wrong version when I have a question? How do I know when I have to update/do anything? And thank you for responding so quickly. I appreciate it.
  5. I tried to open a picture and there was a box that said something about a new version being available and if I want to update now. I clicked ok to whatever the next questions were and it seemed that it went alright, but it didn't.Nothing had changed. So I went to 'www.getpaint.net' and followed the instructions to download paint.netv3.10. When it was finished I went to it and clicked all the 'ok's' to install it. I think it even said 'installation successful'. But when I open it now it says 'this is a pre release version...' What did I do wrong? Please someone explain to me in as many steps as posssible what I have to do. ps. I tried 'search' to see if something about this was already posted but didn't find anything.
  6. http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/viewt ... ht=feather see if this helps.
  7. OMG. Your poor eyes. I hope You can recover. So I'll stick with the spirit of rule 1 and stop shouting.
  8. That is a good idea. I still can't do it while I'm making the changes and have to 'check' how it looks...But it helps. Thanks.
  9. I probably would have found out by now if it were possible but I'll ask anyway to make sure. Is there any way You can hide the 'selection line' ? If You for example have an area of a photograph selected and want to make color adjustments to it the line is in the way. You can't really exactly see how the 'transition' looks. I hope You know what I mean.
  10. I'm from Stuttgart. Well, really Remseck (20 minutes or so from Stuttgart) ps. Wow.I just checked out the map. That is pretty close. But I have never been to Heroldstatt. What a coincidence.
  11. Hey snospmiS, where in Germany are You? I grew up in Germany but am in Florida now.
  12. I don't know. I guess I want to be special. Since I don't have an avatar or siggy I just do that...
  13. Go to LAYERS > Import from file That will put the new image automatically into a new layer.
  14. You just have to make sure that your text is in a seperate layer.
  15. 1. If You make a selection with one of the selection tools You can add to it by holding the Ctrl-key, right? Is there a way to take away from a selection? 2. I know how to rotate a selection. Is there a way You can just flip it? Edit by CMD: No need for a size tag. We came in here specifically to read your question, you don't have to assault our eyes with a huge font to get our attention.
  16. I had a question about that tut but then asked it somewhere else. I can't delete my post so I just said "NM". When I came back I saw that snowstorm also had a question and I wanted to redirect him to the post that answered it. Only after I had done that did I realize that I could have used the other post for that. You people need to relax. Forgive me for messing with Your holy board and not following your commandments to a 'T'
  17. Check my post in 'Questions and General Discussion'. MadJik gave a good explanation!
  18. Thank You for your clear instructions. It's great. I'm having fun with it.
  19. I followed the bubbles tutorial. It was pretty easy to follow. But I got stuck in the part about the soap-effect. The part about using the codelab plugin. It says: 12. With the codelab plugin, load the radial color code. (or copy/paste the following code) I don't know how to do that. I have tried since yesterday to figure it out by myself but I just don't get it.I copied that stuff and pasted it ,but nothing happens.I tried all kinds of things I know it says 'for advanced users' but I really like those soap bubbles. I could use them in my collages... Could someone explain it to me in Baby-steps what I have to do, please? Maybe post a screen shot when the codelab window is open? I would really appreciate that.
  20. Thank You, thank You, thank You. Your instructions were great! Thanks for taking the time to help me out
  21. Your instructions sounded so simple but it is not working. I think it is because I have Windows Vista. I found 'Folder Options' but it only has (General-View-Search)[/img]
  22. When I go to 'open with' all I see is word pad and Adobe Reader. I tried this plugin: http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=2580 That's the one that helps you to draw stars... and everything worked just fine. I also tried a few others. As soon as they are on my desktop the file type is dll(properties) and I can just drop them in the effects folder. What could be the difference? I'm so frustrated because the 'water effects' is the only one I really want. Oh, and I'm a girl by the way.
