  1. alright. im probably the dumbes programmer here but how do i use this?

if i have to put it in my pdn directory and run it from command prompt then im doing it right but i dont understand two things:

    1. what is the patch thing for?

    2. my pdn directory is located at C:\Paint.NET

when i open command prompt it says: C\documents and settings\lev>

how can i drop it to being just C:\ (i used to know this)

  2. alright. i made two images using relatively the same method. actually the story goes that my friend and i were having a competition: who could create a cooler image. i was trying to prove that PdN was just as good as photoshop because he used ps and i use PdN. So, he created something like the two i will post and then i lost because mine was worse. i decided to try to make something like his and he gave me a hint so here are my results (yes, i like the top one more too, but it took twice as long to make and it had 32 layers most of which i combined to get an effect):

    1.

    2.

if anyone wants me to, i can create a tut on how to make something like the lower one.

  3. @ Bjerre

i used a method much simpler. you can still see a little gray and it looks more like a pot than an orb. and, it changes the colors to a bit more dark.

    1. duplicate image

    2. on the top image, set blending mode to color burn

    heres my "work"

    after my mini tut:

  4. hehe.

i made three quickies when i was playing around with brush styles (one of them has nothing to do with brush styles:

    pdnbrushed.png

(yes i am promoting the use of these)

    now, what looks better,

    this:

    or this:

    randomlight.png

by the way, i did not use noise at all.

    EDIT:

if you scrol upp and down on the light rays one, even if you do it slowly, there will be an optical illusion, and if you do it fast, your head will hurt (well, you gotta look at it)

  5. about paint.net being noticed....

    how i learned about paint.NET:

in science class at school, we needed to use computers. both of our stationary labs were reserved so we got laptops. when i was using the all programs function in start bar, i noticed something called paint.net. i was like woah whats that? so i opened it and i got an f on the lab we were doing because i played around with pdn the whole time. but it was worth it. before then i never used a image editing program so i was amazed at even the fill styles for the paintbrush. so if a school has it.... and it didnt say for use by my school, it said for use by the bellevue school district. so then, i told a lot of friends about it and now many of them use pdn. [the pdn forum user] dragonpyro is one of them.

sadly, the stationary labs had photoshop elements 2.0 (what losers.)

  6. i had the same problem

    thanks cmd :D

wow tahts the first emotion ive used on this forum

    EDIT: sorry double post

this is offtopic but what i dont like is that the ads on my page are always

photo shop tutorials or down photoshop now!

    this is PdN not photoshop

  7. for the first part of my post

    i made a little image

    i just want to see

    1. what people think of it

    2. who can guess how i made it (just out of interest)

    bah.png

for the second part i will show a very bad image

i was bored so i decided to make a "wavy" dollar bill

i actually want to put it on a table and make a wood block that balances the bill on it to "explain why it is wavy.

    any suggestions?

  9. AWESOME!

ill use the random one all the time

EDIT: bleh, i only thought that from the description. i would use it a lot if you made an option to change the size of the dots or the dots would be as big as your brush size
