  1. the what tool ???. I don't think I used that tool before or I just don't know the name. Is it a plugin ? Also how many plugins do you have installed
  2. Did you just update and run the updeated version of Paint.NET for the 1st time when you got that error ? I had one just like it when I updated to the new version of Paint.NET and ran it for the 1st time. After that it worked find and I blame it on update files being still in RAM.
  3. You just said you could save it to the Desktop in your username folder under Doc's. That folder is the real desktop (not a shortcut). When you log in and see the desktop your really looking at the folder in Doc's inside of your user name. Everything in that folder is on the Desktop so if Paint.NET can save it there then it doing it job. Still don't understand ? Wacth the video http://www.dextut.com/misc/desktop.html
  4. Take a sreen shot and try to save it to your user desktop folder and not the desktop shortcut. Mine would be (C://Documents and Settings/HITMAN-X-/Desktop) If it saves it there then go to your desktop and right click and then click refresh.
  5. This happens a lot and most people make a list of the fonts they download and test them. Also some people have found that it only freezes up for a few seconds. Rick can the crash log tell you the font that bad in 3.10 ? (Sorry if I should not ask this here)
  6. when you add a layer it does not have a background color unless you fill it in with one. Also the F1 key will bring up the help file with all you need to know on layers and other tools .
  7. using the move selection tool on small selections works better if you move the move selection tool out of the 8x8 you selected and then draged. It will still move the selection even if your not in the box you selected.
  8. you have 1013MB of RAM ?. 1GB of RAM is 1024MB. Do you use on board video because on board video will use your ram but if not then you got corrupt memory. Also your log file seems to say that as well. System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'PaintDotNet.DocumentWorkspace' threw an exception. ---> System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. Best to run a memory testing program to make sure.
  9. how full is your desktop ? The more things on your desktop can slow your desktop down and this could be why it locks up for your images. I make folders called used a lot, not used a lot, and misc. For all my items.
  10. Before IE7 I used IE6 with transparency and had no problem. I belive the IE6 transparency problem came from a windows update.
  11. don't worry about it. I know what you mean. I wish they make the firewire port for my head so I could just download the data to my brain .
  12. umm drakaan he knows that :?. He was asking about the Download Now buttons. He thinks the Download Now buttons are other programs. He did not know they were websites giving out the Paint.NET program to download.
  13. I guessing you are trying to find the font to install Step 3 ? It best to save it in a folder close to your root folder (C: Drive) if you are unsure were your desktop folder is. So if you like you could just move it to the C: drive and grap it from there or you can go to your users folder and find your desktop. To find your desktop go to your root folder (defualt is C: ) then to documents and settings and then to the folder with your user name. You should now see a folder called Desktop in there. Full Path for my font was C:/DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS/HITMAN-X-/DESKTOP which you can see in Step 3 the 3rd image of the tutorial. If that not the problem your having then my next guess is you download the font and it is A) not showing on the Desktop or you can't open the zip file. A) Did you pick save to save it to the desktop or did it just download with out asking if you want to save ? If it never asked you then the file is download in a temp folder somewere on your computer. If you can't open the zip file then you should try another zip program like WinZip. If that don't work then the zip file could be bad.
  14. Beta News, major geeks, download.com, they are the name of the download Mirrors (Other sites that give you the download your looking for). If you read the text it tells you to click one of the big Download Now buttons to get Paint.NET from that website.
  15. your using .NET Framework 1.1 ? Try using 2.0 or higher
  16. yes but as he siad he has a 1 GB of ram as it is. That why Bob posted that link as he things it the image it self and the way Paint.NET reads it. (I guessing)
  17. How much RAM do you have and how fast is your CPU. It could be you really don't got enough memory or the file has become damaged.
  18. A) People here put out helpful hints on how to keep your computer in line and to save you time on fixing problems. If you had to do the tip that been said before over and over about testing fonts and keeping a record you would not be here right now. (Common thing for all programs that use fonts) I had word crash because of fonts before. Just because it not crashing word does not mean anything. There are many bugs in fonts and not everything will crash around it. C) People here like to help one another unlike people in other forums. Most people here use other editing programs as well but like to use Paint.NET more. So dis-ing the program because of something you did only gets to people. Getting mad wont let you get your way in here like in other forums were no one wants to help but being nice will. Who knows maybe someday Paint.NET will tell you the font name but right now you should be doing what you do with all font programs and that making a list. I myself make a defualt backup file of the font folder and a 2nd one for all fonts I have added and tested to work.
  19. How so ?. You can do many kinds of Animating with text. There a nice tutorial on how to do Animating. You can find it here Be sure to look in tutorials for help on how to do things as there many tutorials on this forum.
  20. you mean the help files ? Just open Paint.NET and go to the Help link which will bring up all info on all tools and parts of Paint.NET. I think you can also use F1 to bring it up when your in Paint.NET.
  21. Which means he / she got bad ram in there computer that needs to be replaced.
  22. You only got 191 MB of RAM. Read the System Requirements on the down load page and it says the Minimum you should have is 256 MB.
  23. I have no clue what he talking about. Explain more, give some detail on what your doing. Also is it just me or is 98% of his image missing. I would love to download what ever file it is just to understand what your doing and what Paint.NET has to do with it but the only internet I hae for the next 8 weeks is at work. Can't download unknow files to these computers.
  24. They told you how to do it. You need to make frames. AKA images to put together to make a effect. So 1 image would have the words and the next image would have the words faded a bit and so on. There is no plugin that I know of for any image editing program that will make flashing text for a still image type with out using frames (A mass of images put together).
