  1. I used paint.net for several years on my laptop but recently got a new one. Old one had version. 4.0.12 & the new one has 4.0.13.

It didn't occur to me that all my old plugins & whatnot that I'd added would be gone. Is there a way for me to install what I had from the old laptop? I barely remember now everything I added. Thanks.

    Open up your desired image

    Adjustments > Black and White

Adjustments > Brightness / Contrast  (Adjust such that your image goes from solid black to bright white)

    Add a new layer

    Draw gradient on that layer

On that new layer, edit properties and change the blending mode to Multiply

    Thank you!

    Like this?

BINGO! & oddly enough, I think I figured it out. (after someone here said to use grayscale 1st)
I ended up using an already prepared gradient with the colors I wanted, then pasted the face as a new layer on top, but I lightened the opacity of the face. Voila.
How'd you get *that* brighter look on yours though?

Perhaps it's only me, but I don't know what you mean by "change the colors on it gradient style." Change the colors it what way? Make them darker? Change the hue? Maybe you could add a little more detail on what you hope to achieve.

I have a photo of a face. I want to change the original colors of it & have it go gradually from blue (on the left) to yellow.

  5. I've got 2 separate images. I want to take one & paste it on the other but before I do that, I'd want to change the colors on it gradient style, but whenever I try using that tool, my image vanishes & all I see are the colors.

What am I doing wrong? Its possible I'm using the wrong tool altogether.

  6. So is this plugin limited to only certain fonts? Because I'm trying to use it with a font I downloaded more recently & it's not coming up as an option.  :(

(I have version 1.2. There an updated version I need?)

  7. I've got dozens of old photos from the 70's & 80's I would *love* to sit & try fixing one day. By the time I'd scanned them all, (several years ago now), the colors had already suffered a decent amount of fade. To the point where it's really tricky restoring the right colors even with the tools available. (though I am pretty inexperienced doing this) Everything turns out too redish or too bluish or some weird unnatural looking color in between.

I installed the "Manual Color Correction" plug-in, but I found no tutorial for it. Is that the plug-in I need to do this right?

    Help, anyone. Thanks! :)

  8. Pixey- Thanks a million! The video was an enormous help!  Far more steps than I would've realized otherwise. I was successful! I had to start over a few times, but I managed to do it. I also had to download 2 plugins you used that I didn't have. (Align Object & AA's Assistant)

I guess it might help in the future if I just played with some of the features just to see what they do & how they work.

    Thanks again!  :)

  9. I really appreciate everyone's patience here. Thank you.

BUT.... with DrewDale's advice with the duplicate Obama pic, (which I easily did), I'm now lost on where that step fits into NiteN's 2nd reply.

It'd be so much easier if there were a video tutorial for this. I know there are a bunch on Youtube, but I'm not sure what keywords I'd use to find it.
