(This was always a little bit strange for me because the origin is top/left and not bottom/left, but OK. years to late ;-). In Paint.NET 3.5.11 the 'Twist Angle' was counter-clockwise too. In Paint.NET 4.0.3 the 'Twist angle' is now clockwise. Maybe this has changed by switching to the IndirectUI roller control. One additional issue. If you are moving the sliders of the ball then updating of the slider control itself is quite delayed. Maybe an Update() call may help.
