needing help with background replacing

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am new to Paint.net and needing some help in figuring something out.

I use clippingmagic.com to remove backgrounds from images, then I save them as a JPEG. What I want to do is place the image onto a new background. I was able to do one yesterday (I attached a copy of what I managed to do, using 2 separate images) but I don't know what I did!! Can anyone help me with the steps on how to put an image on top of a new background and not have a black box around it? If I don't make any sense please let me know. Sorry for the tiny images.

The one with the black box is what happens every time I try to replace the background. I don't know what to do.
