I was offered the update, which I accepted. Downloaded without a problem...but, on opening it after downloading I found it very laggy and unresponsive, taking several attempts to open drop downs etc.

It crashed with an unhandled exception after I had saved my picture.. but didn't save, and then was unresponsive even to closing down.

I'm on a laptop using vista, in case that's of any use to you. How do I roll back to the previous version?

caliandris,

In the Paint.NET program folder, try running PdnRepair.exe

"C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PdnRepair.exe"

~~~~~~~~
I'm having the same problems. I uploaded the new version and it keeps crashing on me whenever I try to do anything with it. It keeps saying that the program is not responding and it just freezes. I've already tried the PdnRepair.exe thing and it's still acting the same way. Does anyone know what I can possibly do to get the old version back? It never did this.... boltbait.sad.png
When Paint.NET crashes it will typically place a pdncrash.log file on the Desktop.
Can you post the crashlog file?
I'm sorry, but I'm not finding this. It's mostly just freezing and saying it's not responding and I have to force close the program. It freezes whenever I do anything, whither it's copy and pasting, using the zoom, using the lasso, painting on my image, erasing, etc. Anything I do it freezes, so I dunno what exactly to do or to look for to help. I'm sorry. :(
I figured out the problem. The new updated version cannot handle the size of the photo I was working with, while the older version was able to handle the large file size. Maybe that is a suggestion for the next version. A way to handle large size photos, my digital camara already makes my pictures at least 30 by 40 inches and when putting them together it makes a huge photo. If there was a way to work with photo sizes that size without it crashing would help me out greatly. I just thought that I would let people know what was happening and how I fixed it. I just resized what I was working with, which though does make the photo quality go way down, it kept the program from crashing.
