Tzvi
When I apply the move selection tool, it doesn't take hold of the image. If I try to move the image, the highlight moves, leaving the image behind. The same when I try to rotate it. I tried reinstalling paint.net, but it made no difference. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tzvi
Sarkut
That is normal action for the Move Selection tool. The Move Selected Pixels tool will move whatever part of the image is inside the selection on the working layer.
david.atwell
Also, make sure you aren't on a layer other than the one you're trying to move. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Sarkut
Tzvi, Try this: Run PdnRepair. Program Files/Paint.NET/PdnRepair.exe Reboot your PC, try Move Selected Pixels tool again.
