theratking Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Hello. Okay, I remember doing this quite a lot before in the past, but it's been a while since I've last used paint that I have since forgotten. Anyways, what I did was have a layer (usually some kind of pattern, etc) as the first layer. On a separate layer I would have a shape (in this example let's use a square). What I remember doing was using some shortcut command that, when the top layer is selected, would clip over the layer beneath it. End result is the square but with the pattern on it. If it helps, a little arrow symbol of sorts appears between the layers as a 'linking'. I just wanted to know what is the shortcut command of making those clipping masks? Thanks for your time and help! Quote
Sarkut Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I don't recognize what you are describing. You could start with a single layer, patterned. Make a rectangular selection, then: Ctrl + C Ctrl + Shift + V This would copy the selection into a new layer. Quote
theratking Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 No, what I mean is it acts like a clipping mask. Quote
theratking Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 I'm not sure what that is. I did a simple CTRL command to activate the masking, though. So I'm certain it wasn't a plug-in I had to install. Quote
Sarkut Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Ctrl + X is the cut command. Here's a list of keyboard shortcuts, it might jog your memory. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/K ... mands.html Quote
