How do I deselect a tool and get my pointer back?

Recommended Posts

I am aware, return to mouse pointer after using paint.net tools has been an issue for a while.

It would to seem that a solution would be to add a mouse icon in the tool list that would bring the mouse point back.

I know the point comes back when you go into the upper menu area.  But if I'm trying to show someone an area of a photo

or graph I would rather switch to a mouse point, so I don't have, to correction a mistake I might make using a paint.net.

May a change of that effect could be emulated in the next program issue.

Thanks for the great program

It is not an issue.

There is no 'mouse pointer' to return to in the way that you describe; there never has been.

One of the tools is always active and the appropriate pointer is displayed.

As @toe_head2001 suggests, you can use the Pan tool.

You can even set that to be the default tool. See Settings > Tools here https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/SettingsDialog.html
