Color, character confused!

Howdy!

I'm all lost and confused and everything :?:

I created a beautiful blue background for my painting (or whatever it's called) and then tried to write on top of it in red.

Am I totally stupid or something? Anyway, couldn't figure out a way to write in red.

By the same token, I unsuccessfully tried to put a '@' in my text. :?

Any ideas?

did you write on a new layer (transparent)? change to text? and change your primary color? what font are you using? make sure there is an @ symbol in it.

if you could post a screen shot of when you are starting to type your text maybe we can get a few clues as to where you are going mis step.
