Necro bump. I used this a long time ago and it was great. But now I am on a new machine and the original link seems to be nogo. Is there another version of this or an update somewhere?

Win 7 64 bit, 4 gigs ram. Lame processor, Crappy video card too. I'll try it on my better/faster rig later.

Hmmm, still not working for me. I got unspecified errors with the 1.0.0.0 version and now it is now saying unrecognized file type with 1.0.0.1 Cheers

Hmm, same problem on my graphics computer. Some open but not all (the ones I need do not open ). I think that I read there in fact two kinds of jp2. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I see that it needs the VC8 Runtime. Is that this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=3387 Would it be better to use a newer runtime? Please advise. Cheers

Actually I am editing archived documents, images from books on Archive.org. if you click around on the menus you can find the raw and the jp2 compressed images (rahter large files). There are also other formats but those are lower rez and not as useful. I supposed that jp2 is not supported via plugin on PdN?

Thank you for all your help guys! My next question is about jp2 files. At the moment I am converting jp2 files into tiffs with IfranView, but it is a slow work around (and the files get pretty heavy that way). If I could open the jp2 files directly in Paint.NET it would be fabulous. I know there are some plugins from long ago (couldn't get them to work), are there any newer ones that work with the newest edition? Cheers

Ahhh, after a little more digging, tuns out there is a filter built into Gimp that does the job. Under distort-->newsprint also: Also in Photoshop, if you convert an image to Bitmap mode, it'll give you options to apply halftones to it. I have Gimp, but no PS. Gimp is ok, not as nice to use as Paint.net. Sorry for the odd formatting, cutting and pasting does that sometime. Cheers

Hello again! I have a question regarding generating Zip-a-Tone or Benday dots. If I have a greyscale image that I would like to print in B&W, is there a plugin or other method that would easily covert the grey parts to black dots while retaining the black and white? Or I guess black could be dots as well, just more of em. Thanks ans cheers!

Hello there, Long time user of Paint.net and quite pleased with it. I use the vanilla app and do vanilla things. Lately I have been interested in using some turn of the century public domain line illustrations, but often they are found with yellow backgrounds from the old paper (beautiful but not what I am looking for). I can knock the blotchy yellow out with levels and such, but I think there is probably a way to remove it instead of washing it out. I see that there are a few plug ins out there that might do the job, but I don't know if they are updated to work with the newest program on a 64 bit Win 7 machine. If someone would be so kind as to tell me step by step the best method of doing the above, I would be most appreciative. My raster (and vector) skills are very limited. Kindly list the best plugins that work on a 64 bit WIn 7 distro and how to use them best. Sorry for the noob question! Thanks! Bonus question: Since some of the drawings are not the best quality, so vectorizing them has potential. I have played around with the trace bitmap tool on Inkscape and it is cool, but is it the best way? Is there a way to clean up a raster image without manually doing cleanup, or a plug in that lets it scale up? Thanks again!
