  1. Gentlemen, I am so thankful that I got your responses. Thought I would never get a rely.  The *BIG* problem is:  I am using old software that does not recognize PNG, JPEG, GIF, ect.  Only bmp for textures.  When I tried any other format, the result looked like picture 2.  Also tried using DXTbmp DXT3 and saving as bmp.  Again picture 2.  *Only*  bmp format gives me picture 1.  I just don't know all the tricks to correct this.

TrevorOutlaw, can you point me to how this can be done?  Sounds exactly what I am looking for.  Let me warn you guys -  I am 71.  Ya'll are way ahead of me.  Ya'll is Texan:grin:

  2. Using Paint.Net for several years.  Have version 4.0.19 (Final 4.19.6484.39094).  I enjoy doing scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator X.  A strange texture problem has popped up since last update.  Example:  Picture 1 Before -  The rear engine.  Saved as a bmp or DXT 3.bmp.  Inside the engine compartment I used paint 0-0-0 hoping to have just the engine seen.  Transparency does not work using bmp.  When I finished and saved, I get picture 2 results.  Another program I use is too old and does not use any other format *but* bmp.  This other program is *as is* and no updates will ever be created.  The *only* way to clear this problem up is I have to restart the computer.  This problem has never shown it's ugly head before.  Is there some way to correct this problem?  Or is there a way I could delete this version of paint.net and go back to a older version?  Windows 10 64 bit.  Thanks for any help

  3. Downloaded both BoltBaitPack 41 and 43 today.  Looking for feather.dll and something called Alpha Blur.dll   I did find oldfeather but not new feather.  Could someone guide me to these plug-in's are found?

Or maybe they are called something else?  I don't know.  Many thanks.

  4. I need help in creating a day night texture for use in FSX (Flight Simulator X). This is as far as I can get - lack of knowledge main reason!! In picture 1, I made a 64 x 64 pixel canvas. After putting the border around it, I used the magic wand on the inside and used the Alpha mask. Then I made a duplicate layer as seen in picture 2 and made a light brown tint. Then I used the flatten. But now I need a light to shine thru the window pane for a night effect. How would I do this? Would I use the Effect\Photo\Glow? How would I save the completed image as a _LM image?

Appreciate any and all help. Thank you

  5. Just gathering information. See, I use Firefox under Win7 too, so I can set my system up like theirs in order to try and reproduce the problem.

There is a possibility a customized CSS file involved (Firefox supports such customization).

Next question is: how is the user trying to print. Firefox >> File | Print?

Good day EER, Yes, I am trying to use Firefox>>File | Print. Not interested in the ad's. What can be done about this "CSS" thing?

    Appreciate all reply's....

  6. New to Paint.net. Find so many interesting subjects and help. But - Cannot print from the forum. Printer is HP Officejet Pro 8500A. Browser is Firefox v 10.0.

Thank you for the reply. I "think" the easiest thing for me to do is give you the youtube address. It is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PEu3DaSuA4. In the tutorial, they select: Effects\Selections\Beveled Selection. But this is for Chrome Text; which is not what I want. I need a flat surface chrome as stated before.

I do hope this helps you to understand my problem.

  8. I have watched a tutorial video about creating "Text Chrome" on youtube. I need to create a 128 x 128 flat surface chrome, high gloss texture.

I want to put this texture in my CAD program as a bmp. Is there a particular plug in I need to do this? Using version 3.5.10 and XP.

In the said video, some commands were shown that I do not currently have.

Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance...
