[Save as should not force me to Flatten my image]

This computer decided to submit my last post all by itself. I hadn't finished it, so I'll continue:

"Save As" allows the option to change the filename and/or destination and/or extension. if you change the ext. (eg. .png) it will flatten the image. Now, your working in that file format (.png) if you wish to continue working with separated layers simply choose the appropriate file from File - Recent or elect from the thumbnails at the top of the screen

Does this help at all, or just confuse more? Is it too late anyway? Am I completely missing the point? Does anybody care?

Oh dear, what a blinkin' mess. Now I might have the wrong end of the stick but I see it like this:

Forget "Save" that only saves the file immediatyely in the current location with the cureent name and extension

Hello Everybody

Has anyone out there had  this issue? I'm creating a new face for a temperature gauge on my boat. I'm drawing it in Inkscape but inkscape's colour fill is not very easy to use, so I thought I'd do that part in Paint.net. However, in order to preserve the layers I have had to use the *.svg plugin. So far so good. Problem is, although all the layers from inkscape are listed as having transferred. one layer, (called: inner circle) does not contain its image. See attachments. Can anyone please explain this and suggest a solution. The write-up of this plugin implies that there could be a large number of layers transferred which might slow Paint.net's responses . Therefor, I would not think that 4 layers would be too many. In any case, it is neither the top or bottom layer that is affected. I'm assuming here that the layers are transferred in some particular order; perhaps, top to bottom.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. More and smaller curves is the answer to that then. I believe Corel Draw can do it so it's possible. But then, anything's possible, isn't it? I suppose I'll have to try harder to master bezier curves too.

When drawing a line or curve you get four handles. One at each end and two between, which can be moved along the line. Is it possible to add handles to produce multiple curves in one line?

 

I expect that this subject has been raised before as it sounds so basic, but I'm darned if I can find it.

Yes. I've just taken delivery of a Bamboo pen and touch but found that Paint.net only sees it as a standard mouse. As you say, none of the special features work. You say that Paint.net no longer supports pressure sensitivity. Does that mean that earlier versions did? If so, why did they remove this.

Well now, this is wierd. I can (obviously) post a query but I'm unable to get in to read the replies that people have been kind enough to write. It appears that my profile is incomplete or my Status, whatever that is, is not right. Or it might be something else. So, if

Mr. Brewster or somebody could have a look and send me an email to : <snip> telling me what to do I would be grateful.

I have to say though, that I don't see why I should have to put any personal information here, I don't see the relevence in such a forum.

[Rotate Image]

It would seem to be a fairly basic requirement but I'm not able to find the solution. (But then, I am a bit of a novice.) The standard form for rotating objects is 90° in either direction or 180° I would like to be able to rotate by any number of degrees. Does anybody know how to do this and be prepared to tell me, please? Is there a plugin available?

I've quickly come to the realisation that there are a lot of people out there who know everything that there is to know about Paint.Net. Have any of you, I wonder, ever considered writing a manual or creating context sensitive Help? I realise that this would be a very big undertaking. I'm also aware that Paint.Net is continually being developed but the main issues could still be written-in. I'm very new to it so it's no good asking me to do it, although I wouldn't mind doing the actual writing as long as I'm told what to write. Its a bit of a nuisance having to troll through the forum to find answers to everything; which might not be there and then having to ask the community, which might quite soon give me the answer but isn't instant. And the trouble is - I always get sidetracked by some other interesting looking snippet that takes my eye.

Printing

Is there any chance of a patch to allow Print Preview? I wouldn't be surprised to be told that it is a plan for V4. But I have no plans to upgrade from XP to Windows 7 at the moment. Paint.Net, I suppose, is mainly geared towards photo printing. But if one wished one could use it to design wedding invitation cards etc. But printing these from within Paint.Net is a bit obtuse. 'Go and get a card design program then, if that's what you want to do'. I know, but I'm falling in love with Paint.Net and I'm not ready for a divorce yet.

Hello Everybody,

I'm new to Paint.Net so I'm probably asking a very basic question. Even though I come from an IT background I'm a bit confused about this and lots of other things in here. So I'll just stick to this one for now, in the belief that I'll solve the others myself. (Yeah right!)

I've downloaded some plugins. I've expanded them. I've copied the .dll files to C:\Proram Files\Paint.Net\effects. Well, that should do it shouldn't it? I've read an article in a forum that suggests some plugins do not appear in Effects drop-down menu. Some of these certainly do not. So, please will some kind soul enlighten this idiot on how to access them within the program.

I can't seem to get to grips with Photoshop Elements so I'm having a go with Paint.Net. I think I'm doing quite well really, but don't expect to be seeing any wondrous works of art from me - for a while.
