  1. I just wanted to apologize for bringing the topic up again and have been informed that it will be in version 4. To the person that quipped, "do you know how much $150 buys of a devs time," yes, I know, but I don't want to pay, in full, by myself, for every single feature in every program that gets my donations. My idea is that if one person pays more than normal, then other people might. My offer still stands, as a single person (who knows that it will never cover the time/cost/effort of an entire project, let alone, even a feature, I will donate $150 once the feature exists and hope others will considering a donation too. I did try to search for the topic, "point to point," and "point to point selection" before I found only the 2007 reference to it. Does anyone know why I was unable to find it? Possibly a lack of imagination on my part regarding search terms? Let me know. Thanks for the patience all. Ken Creten
  2. This has been going on since 2007, and still no point to point selection tool? I don't get it. How can this keep going with people not being able to small polygonal regions, as with Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and other pro programs. Paint.net says it's the best free editor, but there doesn't seem, by time and response to be any awareness of the value of point to point selection. I will give you $150 if you create that tool. Otherwise, Paint.net is useless to me without a point to point selection tool. Email if you create it. Just look at the tool in photoshop, and you'll understand what it is, and hopefully why it's important. Let me know when you have the tool, and I will gladly give you the money, otherwise, no go. ken_creten@yahoo.com
  3. Also, my email is <snip> I am not a coder, but if I can help in any way, let me know. I've been a software tester at one point in my life and would be glad to test this feature in a systematic way.
  4. Actually, not really. I'll chime in here after visiting here a while ago. I said I'd visit to check back on this, and would start using Paint.net when it has a polygonal select tool. Photoshop Elements, which is what I mainly use, at $89 has it. My super old copy of Paint Shop Pro 6 (release in 1999) has it. However, both the Gimp and Paint.net do not. Why? Is it too hard to do? Are the coders for Gimp and Paint.net against it? What's up? Not having a point to point selection tool in Paint.net makes it an also ran with other, better, programs. Every person I've mentioned this to over the years has said, "what? Don't they know they need thaT? Or, something similar. What is the problem? Now
  5. Hello, I'm new to the forum, but have been watching (hoping) paint.net for years now. Not until it has a polygonal - point to point selection tool, will paint.net be taken seriously. I've waited years for this and hoped. The other free popular editor also does not have this tool, thereby limiting it's appeal. Every single person I've exposed it to (several) has thought the programs is fantastic. But when they found out that tool was not available, everyone basically said, "what th'? Don't they know that that tool has to be there?" I answer, "I don't know why they don't have it." I predict that without that tool, paint.net will never be as popular as it could be. I do not in any way mean to upset anyone, because I'm sure this has been said till everyone is nauseated by it. This being the probable case, why hasn't anyone taken action on the item? This is a program I would even donate to, because it deserves it. I just hope that someday that tool gets into the program before most graphics people simply move on. If I were a graphics programmer, which I'm far from, I might be able to help. Thank you for listening.
