System specs:
OK, so a bit of background in case it helps: A few weeks ago, my computer got unplugged (I'm too poor to get a UPS ), and the hard drive developed a few bad sectors. One of those bad sectors ended up being right on a system file ... and you can guess what happened. I had to reinstall. Luckily, I did not lose any files (they were on a data partition).
So the latest chkdsk/hard drive manufacturer diagnostic tool thingy came out just fine, but every time I try to install Paint.NET it would hang on me. First I would click through the options (e.g. desktop icon) and then it would hang during the actual installation and then turn grey, and then after a few minutes explorer.exe would start hanging and everything would get frozen up and I would have to hit the reset button. I downloaded the latest version in case it was due to a bad sector; no luck.
Also, the second time I tried to install, it did this de-installation thing of the previous failed installation. But then it would hang again.
Thanks for any help.
