  1. Thanks but still jagged. The cat pic is on a separate layer so I'm rotating the whole layer with my R click mouse and it is on transparent area. What do you mean by "select". Am I supposed to be using a selection tool and then rotate? Also the file is pdn but I can't go back and edit the cats. I had to delete the layer, add new one to try again. The gradient is a separate layer.
  2. easy to use and nice interface. tuts are fantastic also. agree with layers.
  3. This file was saved as .pdn then as .png. Don't know why tinypic says it's .jpg When I rotate the image the top and bottom has jabbed edges. I can see the jagged edges even before I save the file. There are two separate layers. http://i48.tinypic.com/29zq24l.jpg thanks for suggestions
  4. I have seen problems or "messages" from people trying to use Photobucket to display images but I think it's unfair to say tuts are always involved. Tuts normally don't give me a problem. Sometimes in the forums someone tries to display Photobucket images and I see messages like "bandwidth exceeded" or "photo has been removed" or "inactive account". I also believe if you are not currently active on Photobucket (you need to login etc) over a certain amount of time things happen to your images And you have to pay $ to get more bandwidth. As far as using your ISP which normally gives you storage space: it can be limited space the ISP gives you. I don't know which is better between Image Shack or TinyPic. I think TinyPic has size limits and it will resize images.
  5. I could PM but didn't know if everyone liked getting them. Edit: I will try PM. Thought maybe others might want to know too. Thanks.
  6. Congratulations to yellowman for winning the WOTW #8. Here it shows the sig has a torn corner.http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=32447 I know there is a plugin for curled corners but how was it made to look torn? How was the text done to be inside and then the shadow of the text beside it? Thanks
  7. Sorry Sarkut. I tried to re-edit my last post before I saw this. You have been a big help.
  8. Appreciate answers. I got a little lost with Sarkuts' help. I must be a dummie. "How does the order affect the final outcome when I have to merge them altogether? If you mean flattening the image when you have finished, then what you see is what you get, before and after flattening. ---------------------------------------------------- If you have several layers with different blend modes in a stack, say 1,2,3 and 4 with 1 being the lowest and 4 the highest, then it's best to merge 2 down into 1 first. Next 3 down into 1 and, finally, 4 down into 1." Sorry-- I have no clue what this means other than maybe "blend/merge" layers at different times according to the layer position. Sounds like I should start at the bottom and once the 2 bottoms ones are done then merge the upper ones 1 at time according to where they are in order? Then the final step is flatten? Why am I starting at the bottom? I believe what people say but don't get it. I've been searching the web to learn more about layers but nothing seems to explain the importance of positions etc.. so I thank people for help.
  9. I'm new using pdn and layers. Why is it important to have a layer on top, in the middle, or at the bottom? How does the order effect the final outcome when I have to merge them altogether? Is the top one the one I'm supposed to be currently editing? Can I edit a layer in the middle or at the bottom as long as it highlighed blue? Appreciate answers.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion Welshblue but I don't have a pic to upload. Just a color.
  11. Thanks Rick for telling me that. Guess my question was not necessary and nobody ever wondered about things like this. Really appreciate your help.
  12. Trying to find a site or source that shows how colors are created. For example I'm sure green has some black but what else? The hue may make a difference but I'm not trying to get that technical. Color pickers I've come across only show different shades of the same color to help match the complete scheme. Thought if I knew how colors were created I'd find matches better. Appreciate opinions.
  13. I have win xp. But doesn't that just work for pics currently on my desktop? What about in the future when I download something or want to save it to my desktop? I'd like to permanately change the default to pdn for future use. Thanks for suggestions.
  14. I downloaded Picasa to see what it did. Now it has taken over as the default imager. Pics on my desktop automatically get opened by it. How can I make pdn the default? Thanks.
