If you copy the image you want, then add a new layer and paste, it should ask you whether you want to expand the canvas or not.
-
Sorry, but did this not used to be a sticky thread? Has something changed hat I missed?
-
No, no, that was a note to me, to tell myself not to act like a mod so much. You've done nothing wrong. Anyway, good luck with the video, once you understand the basics you ought to be fine.

Paint.NET, despite the name, is not a website.
I think perhaps you're getting this from the "upload" in the OP, however, I think that's simply a incorrect choice of words.
EDIT: Also, might I suggest that you take a glance at the forum rules? You're slightly in violation of rule six; "Thread titles must be descriptive". Apart from that, you're good.
Note to self:Must stop minimodding!
-
Enter, then I'll be able to close it. I said about a month ago something along the lines of "I'll close it when we get another entry.".
-
Oops, left this for a while, eh? I do, however I do not intend on continually bumping the thread, and so the competition will close when we receive one or two more entries - otherwise it's not really much of a competition. However, after this comp, I think I may discontinue the competition, as no-one is really displaying any interest.
-
Well, I'm finding that what the problem is is that people seem to be good at some things and very bad at others. I have a plan, so don't worry.
Also, I'm extending the duration f competitions to three weeks in the future so that we get quality work.
-
Please please please give us some entries!
-
Deadline extended. Again. 30th?
-
Very impressive; I like it. The end result is very god, and the steps used to achieve it are quite unique.
-
just the planet looks not blended in because the planets light is on the left while the lightsource is on the right
I'm afraid I've got nothing very useful to say, except that perhaps it's an unusual binary star system?
-
So, again, I'm extending the deadline. June 15th?
-
Sorry to break it to you. Of course, this isn't any reason to stop the competition; repeats are lovely.
-
While I love the theme of time, um... haven't we had it before? AGES ago, admittedly, and I do love the theme (I would, I won that comp) but I was just wondering whether you knew this.

Results!
Finally, the results are in. It's my pleasure to announce that, in joint second place with one vote each, it's pyrochild and PineappleQc!That means that, with an astounding nine votes, the winner is pdnnoob! Congratulations! Details for the next competition will be posted shortly.
Voting has begun!
At last, thanks to the oh-so-wonderful pdnnoob, we have enough entries to begin voting! So, here's how it's going to work. You can PM me with your vote if you wish to vote privately, or, in a slightly easier voting method to previous competitions, simply post here if you want people to know who you voted for. Sound good? Lovely! One thing, you CANNOT vote for yourself. Sorry.
Deadline: 30th of June, 2010
Welcome back to the Pixel Competition, as hosted by me and as sponsored by all those cute little pixels on the site. The theme this time is signs of the Zodiac! You must create an image, whether from scratch or using resources, that represents one or more of the signs of the Zodiac. Simple, no? Yes.
Rules
- Entries made before the contest are allowed, only if they were made a maximum of one month before, to keep your skills around the same as they are now. As well, if it has been entered into any Paint.NET forum contest before, it cannot enter this contest. Finally, it is encouraged that you make some slight modifications.
- Only one entry per person.
- Layers are allowed.
- Partial and full transparency is allowed (I used to frown on this, however I have since been persuaded)
- Any inspiration and stock (not that you're likely to be using stock images) must be linked to or otherwise given credit.
- MS Paint may NOT be used, I'm afraid. I know you could in competition #1, but you can't this time.
- No cheating! Naturally.
With that, I don't believe there is any further need for discussion, however if there is anything you wish to say, please move it to the discussion thread. It can be found here.

Myriad Pro, in smallcaps.

Thank you very much! I like the monocle emote, did you make it yourself?
EDIT: Never knew we had new emotes on the new forum! Nice! There are only two "o"s in monocle though; the code for the emote I just used is monocole.

OK! Voting's up, it seems we have enough votes. In joint second, we have Frontcannon and jerry533482 with one vote each! So, in first place, with 8 votes, one of which was from Frontcannon, we have, of course, Sarkut! Sarkut, congratulations, and get working on our next theme!
-
OK, so, I'm going to keep the voting open for a while longer. So far we have, um... two votes.
-
Images must be no larger than 150x150px, and must also be larger than 25x25px.
I'm sorry. If it weren't for that, I'd allow it.
-
Hm. Entries have closed, unfortunately... I don't think I should extend the deadline any further.
-
I'm extending the deadline to the 30th.
-
I don't see why not.
-
I was wondering... what would people say were I to propose that I create a pixel art tutorial. I don't think we have a comprehensive one yet; there are specific ones, and ones that were never quite finished, so I want to create on once and for all.

No, there would only be any problems if you sold the design or an image containing it. Of course, the rules are entirely based upon the licence upon which the work is copyrighted with. These can vary from your usual copyrights to creative commons licences, which are usually more lenient. However, it is usually a good idea to check the conditions of the licence anyway.
