Yes, shift and magic wand the colour you want to erase.
You may need to adjust the tolerance setting.
When all the colour is selected, use the eraser.
-
OR...
to rotate the selected pixels, use the right MB hold.
to flip for example, a 10width image, grab the left nub and move it 10 pix right to the right nub.
Yep, that's simpler.
-
Magic wand the part you want to flip, copy, then paste onto a new layer and flip/rotate. Erase the bit on the other layer you don't want.
-
The layers aspect of graphic programmes totally baffled me to start.
The best thing is, is to play around with them, make them visible/invisible move them up and down, go to town with them really.
The more you play around with them, the more you will understand how they work.
They are fantastic for adding things to pictures, if you go wrong, you can delete that layer and start on another one.
-
Right, someone pick one and I will keep it.
Number 1.
Number 2.
Number 3 (below).
-
Pick which looks better please.
Trouble is, when I sharpen it, it looks grainy.

I didn't want to start a new topic just to show off my siggy and avatar. So I thought I would tag them on the back of this thread.
-
Type the first letter, then new layer, type the second letter, then go to layers rotate/zoom, adjust to your liking, then new layer, type third letter, Layers rotate/zoom.
Rinse and repeat, adding each new letter on a new layer and rotating.
You will need to select each letter after rotating, to re-position.

........
And I am simple.

Will this do?
Open this pic in paint.net. Magic wand/tolerance the black bit, go to Edit, invert selection, copy and past in your pic you want this in.
-
For anyone interested, I may have come up with my own solution.
Open an image like this in paint.net.
Magic wand/tolerance the white, then Edit, invert selection,
so the black spots are then selected, edit with whatever colours,
copy and past on the skin. Repeating as necessary, until the
desired effect.

.....
I use paint.net constantly for making custom content for The Sims 2 pc game.
I would like to make a freckled skin, I am totally stumped as to how to achieve this.
Suggestions would be gratefully received.
Skin file that needs freckles.
I have been doing eye re-colours, quite successfully.
Example, this:
which I got from this picture.
And this.
From this.

In the layer selection box, select the layer you wish to change the opacity on, at the bottom there is the choice for layer properties, changing opacity is in there.

While I have a readme file in my stuff, I'd rather we (plugin authors) could rely on a minimum level of common sense instead..?
Seems much more sensible to me.. especially as plugins are generally written out of the kindness of the developers hearts..

You're fortunate to be a lot more computer literate than some of us. :?
Maybe assumptions shouldn't be made. Just because somebody can turn on their computer without it blowing up, that they then know what to do once it is on.

there is one of these, if the people happen to take the second and a half it takes to read the readme file...
And where would we find the 'readme' file? I have looked all over and can't find it.
Maybe I need new glasses. 8)
My understanding is, 'readme' files come in notepad. I have no notepad files in my 'paint.net' program files.

My first uploaded picture, with 2.72.
I don't know how I got this, I was messing around with the different blurs.
It looks like a hologram.
-
I havn't a clue what the differences are.
I always save as 'Jpeg' dunno why.
So that was my choice.
* off to google now the differences of file formats. :?
-
I followed the instructions with trepidation.
It worked. :o Thankyou very much.
I apologise for posting this here, I did read that thread, but, it was over a year old, and did not include the version of paint.net that I had installed. I didn't think it was relevent. I didn't want to take any chances.
If this is rude, slap me with a wet kipper, but could someone update that thread to include newer versions?
Thanks again, for saving my scalp from going bald, I wouldn't look good as I am not male.

Not sure, cos I am having difficulty installing 2.70.
I am using 2.64. In this version h/s comes under layers/adjustments.
-
You can lighten images using the hue/saturation selector.
Ctrl+Shift+U
-
I have on several attempts, tried to install or update 2.64 to 2.70.
Every time I get this error popup. It then proceeds to take me back to my previous version.
I have looked in C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\ (I do not have a folder called 'Staging'.)
The only folders I do have are entitled 'Effects' 'FileTypes' 'Help' 'Resources'
Would I be wise, to totally uninstall 2.64? If so, where would I get it back from if 2.70 fails again, as I have deleted my 2.64 download.
Please can somebody shed some light on my problem.
