  1. That happens because .JPEG is lossy format. It would have about same size if the image was saved in lossless image format like .PNG.
JPEG is lossy compression format which gain smaller size on the cost of image quality. It happens that the lesser the size of the image, more the loss of quality in image. While compressing, some of the details of image are chopped off and what appears in its place is called as JPEG noise. So, whenever you save the older JPEG image in new 100% format, It hardcodes the old JPEG noise into new JPEG. It should be decent trade off of around 75-80 % image quality for during saving.

Just try saving with some good level of image quality appropriate for you not the 100% :)

  2. Hi Rick,

Normally, fill is not used much but It's really a cool feature. It's makes nice images. There's something I have to say about it. When I use fill pattern, it really use pattern size of itself. I mean it's not configurable. In small size images. It doesn't matter but for large resolution images the fill pattern becomes invisible. For example, I like black diagonal line fill pattern on white background very much but for bigger images the fill turns out like some sort of gray shade.  :(  I hope you understand what I am saying. (Anyway, it's feature request :| ) Please, make it configurable. Other than this, I will also like a 'hexagonal honeycomb like' fill pattern in available patterns and a new crescent moon shape added in new shape tool along with stars.

I think getting fill pattern for brush back will  be good. :)

  3. A few more suggestions from me.

Curve++ from Pyrochild's plugin pack. This is a very versatile plugin. If you become expert in it, you can use it in a lot of ways.

TR's Custom Random Filler It's a must have plugin. It fills an area with many images provided by user.

ScriptLab is a nice plugin. It's like macro for PDN effects and Adjustments (Also, due to some hidden reason it also support 'Zoom and rotate' in layers menu in macro commands).

You may also like Plugin Browser .. It does not do any effect but it's a plugin for browsing the plugins.

  4. " Ctrl + arrow key" I didn't knew that this feature existed.  :P  I think there are still some mysteries in PDN for me. I haven't read anything about it documentation of move tool or elsewhere. Yeah, there were tips regarding to constrain aspect ratio and angle of rotation using shift but no mention of Ctrl + arrow option.

@EER, you may also add that to move a selected pixels without copying it from source and using it with Ctrl,  can be done by pressing arrow key first and then pressing ctrl + arrow key.

Its off-topic but I would like to ask how is work regarding new documentation going.

I heard that you were around Draft #5 or something. Is there any chance that we are going to see documentation by the end of this summer? :)

  5. It is not a bug. It is an intended behaviour, It was introduced back in v 4.0.2 as a regression from v3.5 . This feature lets you to simply copy a selection from in same layer without going through the hassle of copying and pasting the stuffs. Photoshop also behave in same way.

Rick said this in blog stating (quoting from his post on blog i.e the fourth point):-

    Changes since 4.0.1:
Move Selected Pixels now lets you hold Control to leave a copy of the selected area behind on the initial move (regression from 3.5)

By the way, why would you ever need to press ctrl while moving?
