brightness/contrast matching

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I'm trying to match the tonality of an image to one created under a different monitor setting. It was created at a lower brightness monitor level, but I need to calibrate the image to look right under the most typical web viewing conditions. Any suggestions? Trying to switch back and forth between the original in normal viewing mode and the second in bright mode is very frustrating, and not very productive. Is there a technique I can employ? Or anyone have thoughts on the relationship of brightness and contrast during such adjustments (like a rule of thumb formula on contrast +/- X couples with brightness +/- Y)?

Thanks
