  1. Try running the file PdnRepair.exe. It'll be wherever you installed Paint.NET, eg C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\PdnRepair.exe

    Thank you - should have mentioned I tried that, too. the same error comes up:

    "The application has failed because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

  2. Paint.net is not working for me when I try to launch it: "The application has failed because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

    So, when I attempt to do an uninstall from the control panel to uninstall and then try a new install, this pops up: "There us a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run."

    I've gone through the installer posts already to make sure I have net framework, etc in place.
