  1. Thanks for all the information. It helps to know how the program functions as I was concerned that my video card was not robust enough. That said, I am going to double the RAM in my machine in hopes that I will see some improvement, and won't get too impatient when working on hi res photos with multiple layers! :-) I want to ask another question related to performance and speed (dare I ask this?) ... That "other" photo editing program by Adobe, I've not used it, but does it also have similar performance issues? Anyone know? undone
  2. I have been using Paint.net for a while now and really like the program. One thing I've noticed, though, is how much the program slows down the more layers I use on a project. I'm currently working on a project that has about 60 layers and there is literally a 3 - 5 second delay when attempting to make changes such as moving pixels. To save the project takes at least a minute or two. Seems way too long for all of this to happen. I'm running Windows 7 on an AMD Phenom II X2 560 Processor 3.3GHz with a GeForce GTX 260 OC MAXCORE 55 video card, and 4 GB RAM. Could this be the problem? My son (who is a techie kind of guy) says it should be plenty to handle the program, but I'm wondering now if I need to upgrade my machine. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any recommendations to tweek Paint.net settings? Thanking you in advance, Undone
  3. That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I downloaded and installed the .dll. It works perfectly. If the author of this plugin were here in front of me right now, I'd hug and kiss him/her!!
  4. Hi, all. I'm an avid Paint dot net user, using it all the time - love it! That said, there is one tool, or plug in, that I wish I had available to me as I would use if often. I don't even know how to describe it, but let me tell you what I'm trying to do and maybe someone can offer a solution... I often layer an image of a device, say an iPad, into an image of an iPad case. The problem is the iPad image rarely is geometrically the same as the boundaries/corners of the case. To make the iPad "fit", I often just fiddle with Rotate/Zoom or with TubeOblique or GridWarp plug-ins until the iPad image sort of fits into the case, but with the latter plug-ins the photo often gets distorted. What I would LOVE to have is something that would simply give me handles on each of the four corners of the iPad photo so when its sitting on top of the case photo, I can easily manipulate the corners to fit exactly into the case. Is there such a tool out there? My luck, it's been there in the Paint dot net tool bar all along and I just didn't know about it! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Undone
  5. Hello, everyone! This is my very first post, although I've been poking around here for a while. That said, I'm a self-taught graphic artist and have learned much from this forum. My thanks to all for sharing your knowledge. OK, on to my question... One of the things that is somewhat confusing to me is how to create my renderings in order to obtain the clearest, crispest result. For example, I created an invitation in PDN with a finished size of 3.7" x 6.7". I started with a canvas size of 11.1 x 20.1 so that when I reduced it down, it would retain the same ratio and as much clarity as possible. I did a "save as" in png format, then reduced it down to the finished dimensions. My final png was still really grainy looking, especially the text. I am wondering if the original canvas needs to be set as something other than the default resolution of 96 pixels per inch. Should I have set that at a higher resolution setting? If so, what is appropriate? How large should the original canvas be in proportion to the finished size? What format will be best for clarity when producing the final image (i.e. png)? Sorry if this question has been asked a million times, although if it has, I've not been able to find either the question or the answer here via the search function. Many thanks to all for any suggestions, tips, etc, you are willing to throw my way. Kind regards.
