    You know, I've tried to get the octo/quad reshape tool to do this, and it doesn't really do what you might expect. I think what the guy was looking for (and myself) is a tool that allows you to either draw lines that gradually taper as you draw them, or draw a line or a path that gets the taper effect applied to it (but not to everything else).
