  1. Thank for the replies. =) This is the dog I am wanting to extract from the background. Possum Roadkill, thanks for the links, I will try those out too. =) Thanks again
  2. I'm trying to do this but I am not having much luck. It is cropping but the wrong thing. Step-1 Step-2 Step-3 Step-4 (Is this supposed to happen? when i open the alpha mask settings everything dissapears) Step-5 (Well in the alpha mask settings it had an option to browse for a mask file, which i did and below is the result. It's not quite what I was expecting, but almost what I was after. I only wanted 1 circle and everything outside of the circle to be cropped, not the other way around.) What am I doing wrong?
  3. I need to extract or remove the background from a photograph. I am use to using the extract tool in photoshop that allows you to trace the outline of an image and then extract/remove whatever is outside the outline, leaving behind the image with no background. I have installed all the stickied plugins but I haven't found a tool that does this, besides the magic wand which doesn't do a very good job. It's fine for a flat colored background, but not a patterned background. The picture has a fluffly dog and I need to keep as much detail in it's fur as possible, ie you should be able to see the little fly away furs that stick out without it looking like it was literally cut out and pasted onto a background. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Hiyas. I just started using paint.net after no longer being able to access photoshop or paintshop pro, and am wondering if someone that uses both photoshop and paint.net can recommend the plug ins I will need to have the same kind of set up as photoshop? The things I would like to be able to do are actually quite simple (when you have photoshop and illustrator at your disposal) like auto outlines, vector lines, drop shadows etc however I can't do much with just the straight paint.net app. So if someone could recommend plug ins i should definitely have that would be wonderful. Also I am wondering is there another way of extracting the background in images other than the magic wand? Because it doesn't seem to be able to pick up evey last bit of background pixels and my images end up with untidy white edges. Not much, but when you place the image ontop of a colourd background or image, it's definitely not very pretty. Thank you all in advance. PS I have already started looking at some of the available plugins, I am just looking for recommendations from people who already know which ones I should pick up. I've been trying to get outlines like in the pictures below, but can't find a way of doing it with the standard app as it is atm. Any plugins with auto trace ability?
