  1. Yes, I have run the Clean Install Utility and Paint.NET wasn't listed. I have also run Comodo System Cleaner, CCleaner, TweakNow Powerpack 2009. I'm really at whits end. I mentioned some files I found in the earlier post would the other file info help? It's quite a bit of info and I'm sure it has meaning to or for someone. Really would like to continue using this program. The file I mentioned is named PdnSetupNgenInstall.log. Here is the file contents: ------------- 10/2/2009 12:16:58 PM - Opening log 10/2/2009 12:16:58 PM - args[0] = /delete 10/2/2009 12:16:58 PM - args[1] = DESKTOPSHORTCUT=1 10/2/2009 12:16:58 PM - args[2] = PDNUPDATING=0 10/2/2009 12:16:58 PM - 2. I was going through and cleaning up the files left over from the uninstall. I found two (2) files. This is the content of the file named PdnMsiInstall.log: === Logging started: 10/2/2009 12:16:22 === Error 1714. The older version of Paint.NET v3.5 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1610. === Logging stopped: 10/2/2009 12:17:08 ===. I don't know if this will help but I really hope so? There is another file named: PdnSetupNgenInstall.log. There is quite a bit of info in the second file. Not exactly sure how to post it here? Hopefully this will help in a solution.
  3. I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit, 8 GB Ram, Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB DDR3 Video Ram, Intel Dual Core Processor 3.20 GHz, SATA II 320 GB Hard Drive. I guess I must be holding my mouth wrong or something. This started with Version 3.36, it just stopped working. I uninstalled this version, did a Registry clean and then rebooted. I downloaded the newer version 3.5 Beta 1. Did a clean install and received Error 1603. I uninstalled, did registry clean, reboot and tried installation again, received the same Error 1603. Today I downloaded the newest version 3.5 Beta 2. Installed and low and behold Error 1603 again. Is anyone else having this problem? Have received responses to problem but, no solutions. This has been going on for about a month now. Yes, I have read and complied with the post about Install and uninstall. By the way that post is over 2 years old, check the dates. I'm sure with many releases between then and now I think something would have changed? My .NET Framework is up to date with all service packs. If no resolution is furnished I will have no choice but to move on and find another program that fits the bill for me. Please only serious replies are needed, I would like to continue using this program.
  4. Yes, I did go through all the post and suggested fixes and to no avail. I have read all post concerning the installation and setups. Well you may be able to tell I'm versed in computers somewhat but I didn't know about the download. It's been since the program first came out. The way my luck runs I would have to buy another license to register the 64 bit version?
  5. The reason for the 8 GB of Ram is because I was suppose to have gotten the 64 Bit version when I had this machine put together when Vista first came out. I guess that you can figure the rest? Before I could get over and pick up the machine, SHE had activated and registered this incorrect version of Windows Vista. Did save a small amount on Labor but all else sucked... Cannot post a screen shot not that fully developed with the know how. Anyway the screen just stays on long enough for you to read the error message and the program uninstalls itself.
  6. I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit, 8GB Ram, Intel Dual Core Processors 3.20 GHz, NVidia 9800 GT Video Card 1 GB DDR3 Ram, SATA II 320 GB drive. I have been trying to install this program for over a week. This time I received the same error as before but, this time also in the configuration dialog box it said " The Configuration Data For This Program Is Corrupt". I downloaded the file again from your site and received the same error. I read a previous post saying to use a good Zip program to unzip the .exe file. I used WinZip and then got the same error and, then I used Extract Now. I received the same error with both zip programs. I have installed other programs with no ill effects. Could there be something wrong with the configuration portion of the downloaded file? If I try and reinstall the previous version 3.36 I get error 1610. Both dialog boxes say the same thing. I have since resolved any issues I may have had with this machine, I believe the problem lies elsewhere. How could so many people be having the same problem with your program? Not able to update or install.
  7. Yes, I have done all mentioned on the link listed. I didn't have a problem with uninstall, it won't let me install the newest version. Yesterday I found out through Microsoft that Error 1603 has something to do with the way Microsoft Installer works. In another posting I found a beta registry entry that updated Windows Vista Platform, what ever that means? I applied the update and did the Windows Update thing and then I tried to reinstall, same error. I downloaded the Windows Install Cleanup utility and the installer isn't listed. I found the 4.5 Microsoft Installer program that goes with this version of Vista. Have the fix I believe but cannot install over the Installer Program that is causing the problem? I have looked in all the normal places and I can't find it listed anywhere. If I find a solution to my situation I will come back and post what I found out and did to resolve the problem. Everything else works like normal, it installs updates, for software programs but, it just won't let me use the Paint program I like the most. Well thank you Sarkut for your assistance in trying to help resolve this problem.
  8. I uninstalled the prior version 3.36 and tried to install the new Beta. After the installer unpacked the files for installation it gets to a point where it says: The program is in use by a network, and it asks for an .msi file that it gives a number after the dash in Paint.Net_***********.msi. It goes to C:\Program Files\Paint.Net\Staging. Once there the file listed is not the file mentioned by the program. Then when you choose the .msi, in the staging folder the program cannot continue and uninstalls itself. Then a dialog box comes up saying fatal error 1603. BTW I have the .Net Framework needed for install. I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit, 8GB Ram, NVidia GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB DDR3 Video Ram, Intel Dual Core 3.20 GHz, SATA II 320GB hard drive. Never had a problem with any version before today. Don't really have any idea of what could cause this error. Did a manual registry clean and also ran CCleaner to be sure that all entries were removed. I rebooted and tried a clean install and received the same error. Also tried downloading the file from, Download.com, CCleaner, Neowin. All with the same error, didn't know where to go and look for the error code... Any help will be appreciated. The file it's looking for is: PaintDotNet_2069947587.msi. I did a search of my computer including the Registry with no results found. Found the file and did a rename. Program did the same thing and gave the same error. Does anyone know what Error 1603 is? Maybe I could work around what may be the problem until it's resolved.
