sensfaction

So I'm trying Evilbunny's tut on having an image display through text, so I put my (image not text - but I get the same result with text) image on the background, I paste my image on layer 2. I go to background, magic wand the text, go to the 2nd layer and delete, now the flames should show though on the text however the text shows but in it's original colour....WHAT am I doing wrong, I want the flames to be in the text, not the original text colour, Please help

I have a picture w/ some text on it I would like to remove the tex but have the colors from behind overflow i guess to wash out that text is there any way to do that? Layers ?
