Thanks for your reply, but I am unable to find a WIA compliant driver for the CanoScan 4200f. If anyone has a suggestion for a substitute driver, I am willing to give it a go.

I am trying to acquire from scanner, but it is not visible in the dialog. Scanner works fine othewise and is available from Photoshop CS2. Any ideas? I am using paint.net 3.20 Alpha 2 on Win XP SP2. Canon Scanner 4200F.
