What I want from Crop Tool (or may be Selection - does not matter) - is an ability to fix selection proportions.
What I mean - when I print a photo in the lab, it have standart proportions, usually 2:3 (4x6, 10x15, 20x30 etc).
The Crop Tool in Photoshop or in Canon Raw Converter allow me to fix proportions, while selecting crop area. So I just drag mouse, selecting interesting view in photo, and do not think about proportions at all - they will be always correct.
It's nice. And I miss it greatly in Paint.Net - the FAQ advise "to look at status bar, where size of crop area is show" - is not nearly as good:
1. It's boring - to look at status bar and try to select exactly 10x15cm, not 10.5x14.2 ;-/
2. I do not interesting in selection exacly 10x15cm while cropping - I need to select in proportion 2x3, and I can rescale it to exact size (10x15cm or 20x30cm) later...
